With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.
There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:
Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply the recommended cooktop cleanser to the surface and buff using a nonabrasive cloth or pad. The special cooktop cleansing cream leaves a protective finish that helps prevent scratches and abrasions. To further prevent scratches on your cooktop surface:
Not all pieces of cookware can be used on induction cooktops and stoves. Since induction technology uses the power of magnetism, the cookware piece itself must be magnetic and have a flat bottom. For this reason, cookware made from aluminium, copper or glass, including Pyrex will not work on its own. To test if your cookware is magnetic simply place a magnet on the bottom of the pan. AEG have a select range of pots and pans which are compatible with induction cooktops. To view the accessories range click here.
Discoloration that has a metallic sheen can be caused by mineral deposits from water and food. You can help prevent it by using cookware with a clean and dry bottom surface, and you can remove it with a ceramic/glass cooktop cleaning cream.
AEG cooktops have built-in automatic safety switch off. The appliance deactivates automatically if:
The OptiZone induction cooktops are developed with cooking zones which detect pan presence and location and are not restricted to traditional circular zones. This allows for multiple pots of various sizes to be placed within a cooking zone, provided they come into contact with the induction crosshairs.

Pyrolytic cleaning removes the need for you to use harsh chemicals to clean your oven. Pyrolytic cleaning is an automatic function which cleans your oven with minimal effort. It works by heating the inside of the oven up to very high temperatures and any grease or food residue is simply burned off. Once the programme has finished and the oven has cooled down, it's very easy to wipe away the residue.
Please refer to the instructions in the Care and Cleaning section of your user manual on how to operate the pyrolytic function on your Oven.
Yes, you will need to remove everything including accessories and shelf supports from the oven before beginning the pyrolysis. Please refer to the instructions in the Care and Clean section of your user manual on how to operate the pyrolytic function on your Oven.
During a pyrolysis only the interior cabinet is cleaned. We suggest you clean the inner side of the glass oven door before you begin the pyrolysis. Also, the door of your AEG oven can be removed entirely for easy cleaning. You can view a tutorial on how to remove your oven door for cleaning on the AEG Youtube channel here.
Yes, this is normal. The fan stays on for a period of time in order to help cool the oven.
If you are unsure about the meaning behind the icons on your appliance you can always refer to the user manual that accompanied your appliance. If you do not have access to your manual you can download a digital version here.

The food probe can be used on a variety of dishes and to achieve optimal results, simply insert the probe into the center of the food, set the two temperatures for the oven and food then wait to be alerted by the acoustic signal once the temperatures have been reached.
If you see detergent remaining in the dispenser after a cycle is finished, try the following:
If your dishwasher won't run, check to determine if it might be due to one of the following reasons:
Filters can be cleaned in the dishwasher or by hand - rinse them well and dry before placing them back into the hood. Note that the filters can turn white if you wash them in the dishwasher. If you have a charcoal filter fitted – this cannot be cleaned but should be replaced.
Freshness in your refrigerator or freezer can be affected by how food is stored. Some foods have a strong odour, so be sure to cover them tightly. After you’ve checked how your food is stored, try cleaning the interior of your freezer with a sponge, warm water, and baking soda.
It is normal for the outside freezer walls to be warmer than room temperature. This happens when the compressor is working to transfer heat from inside the freezer.
If the temperature display is flashing, it means that the refrigerator’s electronic control system has detected a performance issue. Contact AEG Major Appliance call centre on 0800 436 245 or contact us and we will be glad to assist you with information about what the display means and what steps to take.
Both the AEG bottom mount and single door refrigerators have a 3 star energy rating.
You can stop/pause your machine after the cycle has started if it is safe to do so. The machine door will not unlock once the water level has reached the level of the door, if the spin cycle has started or if the water temperature is over 60 degrees.
Filters in the washing machine are called the drain pump. To find where your drain pump is located on your washing machine, please refer to the Care and Cleaning section of your user manual.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do here at AEG. For your peace of mind we equipped these machines with 2 family friendly safety features. Firstly there is the Child Lock function which prevents children operating the control panel. Once activated this lock will remain in place until it is deactivated, even if the machine is switched off. Secondly, the AEG washing machines are equipped with a child safety device. When you activate this device, you cannot close the door preventing children or pets being closed inside. Please refer to your user manual for instructions on how to activate these child locks.
